The Believe capsules<\/strong><\/a>, tablets<\/a><\/strong> <\/b>and chewable tablets<\/strong><\/a> (multivitamins & minerals) have been specially developed for individuals who have undergone a sleeve gastrectomy<\/strong> or gastric band surgery. In determining the composition, Elan has utilized the most recent scientific insights. When you undergo a sleeve gastrectomy, a large part of your stomach is removed during the procedure. This limits the amount you can eat. Similarly, if a gastric band is placed, you will be able to consume less food. After undergoing a sleeve gastrectomy or the placement of a gastric band, your body does not receive sufficient nutrients to remain fit without additional supplements. The Believe capsules, tablets, and chewable tablets ensure that you receive the necessary daily vitamins and minerals in the correct dosage to supplement your diet after your sleeve gastrectomy or gastric band surgery.<\/p>\n

Sufficient protein is of great importance to support your body during the weight loss process after surgery; to support you in this, Elan has developed Whey Protein<\/a><\/strong>. The Whey Protein is available in three different flavors.<\/p>\n

Calcium after your sleeve gastrectomy<\/h3>\n

After your weight loss surgery, you will also consume less calcium, and your body truly cannot function without it! Calcium is an important nutrient that ensures the maintenance of strong bones and teeth and contributes to the normal functioning of your muscles. Elan has developed the Calcium Soft Chew<\/strong><\/a>, Calcium Vital tablets<\/strong><\/a> and the Calcium Chew chewable tablets<\/strong><\/a> specifically for people who have had weight loss surgery to supplement your daily requirements. Elan’s calcium products contain calcium citrate, as this form of calcium is well absorbed by your body. Additionally, vitamin D3 has been added to Elan’s calcium products, as this increases calcium absorption in your bones. Calcium and vitamin D3 contribute to the maintenance of strong bones and teeth.<\/p>\n

The required amount of calcium depends on your surgery. Based on the internationally applicable guidelines of scientific associations (ASMBS and IFSO), we advise you to take at least 1,200 – 1,500 mg per day. It is also important to take doses of no more than 500 mg of calcium at a time, to give your body the opportunity and time to absorb the ingested calcium. Calcium is not included in Elan’s Believe products because calcium inhibits the absorption of iron.
