Recommended daily dose The amount of calcium you need depends on the type of gastric bypass you have undergone. Based on internationally recognized guidelines from leading scientific societies (ASMBS and IFSO), we recommend a daily intake of 1,200 to 1,500 mg of calcium.

Since your body can only absorb a limited amount of calcium at once, it is important to take it throughout the day. We recommend taking no more than 500 mg of calcium per intake. This gives your body time and space to absorb the calcium properly.

Why calcium is not added to our WLS products

Calcium is deliberately not included in Elan’s WLS products (Compass, Believe, and Supreme products). We do this for a good reason: calcium can hinder iron absorption in your body. And good iron absorption is essential to prevent anemia.

Important for your own health

If you use Calcium Soft Chews together with your Elan WLS supplements, please do not take them at the same time. Ensure a minimum interval of 2 hours between the two intake times. This allows your body to absorb iron optimally.
